It has come to my attention this weekend that a site called BloggerGuide is hosting plugin and download information for Ajax Edit Comments.

Ajax Edit Comments is under GPL, so there is nothing wrong with the site taking the plugin and listing its information there.

However, there is only one official download location, and that is over at WP Extend.

To illustrate my point, this is the comment that I left over at their site at my plugin’s listing:

I am the author of Ajax Edit Comments. Although the plugin is under GPL and is able to be listed here, I do not (and will never) support or endorse the version available for download here.

If you want to keep up to date, please visit the official download location for Ajax Edit Comments.

I must also point out that the Ajax Edit Comments plugin is installed there. Ironic?

Although this site is “legally” doing nothing wrong, I do have to question the ethics regarding scraping a site (possibly WP Extend) and interspersing ads at the expense of hundreds of plugin authors. Not to mention it’ll likely add confusion to users in the long-run over where a plugin is officially hosted.
