FAQ

The following are some frequently asked questions regarding Ajax Edit Comments 2.x.

Why is this plugin for WordPress 2.5 only?

In order to ensure the most stability, this plugin is WordPress 2.5 only. The plugin makes extensive use of 2.5 features, so it is not possible to release an earlier version.

These weird security keys are showing up in search results or in the RSS feed. Is there a fix?

Please download the 2.0 version of Ajax Edit Comments. I supplied a fix in there. You will also want to clear the security keys in the Ajax Edit Comments options (the last option).

Prior versions stored the keys as custom fields, and this version stores them as a custom post type. I was not aware that custom post types were searchable, or would show up as feeds. I have “hopefully” resolved this issue completely.

I upgraded to 2.6 and AEC no longer works!

Please download the latest version. This issue should have been resolved with version 2.1.1.1.

Are there known plugin and theme conflicts?

At this moment, one plugin has been reported to be causing issues, which is WP Super Cache. I’m still trying to duplicate this issue and then I will provide a fix.

There’s also an issue with All-In-One SEO Pack and error logging. If you are seeing warning messages, I recommend verifying the file permissions on the error log, or disabling error logging altogether.

There’s an issue with WP SnapAvatar. On line 43 in the SnapAvatar plugin, the result is being echoed out instead of being returned. If you change the word “echo” to “return”, the issue will be solved.

Can I provide a translation?

Sure. Please use the support form to submit your translation. If you need assistance on how to work with po files, please read my article on localizing a WordPress plugin.

If you have a problem with an existing translation, please let me know and I’ll contact the original translator.

I don’t have WP 2.5. Is there a plugin for earlier versions?

Yes, the last stable version for WP versions 2.1 - 2.5 is: 1.1.5.1.

As a side note, pre-2.5 versions will not be updated.

Will you provide support for older versions of Ajax Edit Comments (1.x)?

The short answer is no. I encourage you to upgrade to WordPress 2.5 and install the latest plugin version.

I will offer hourly support on older versions, however. Please contact me for more information.

Is support free?

Support is always free, but I will always move paid support requests to the top of my priority list. If you have an unpaid support request, there is no guaranteed support.

If you have special needs, I will let you know if hourly support is necessary.

Please return to the Ajax Edit Comments.
