A Picture on the About Page
Before attending WordCamp Dallas (at City Hall in Downtown Frisco) this past weekend, I attempted to do some homework on some of the attendees. I did my best to research, which included visiting many, many about pages.
The common denominator on most of the about pages I saw? There weren’t any pictures of the blogger!
I basically went to WordCamp blind, not knowing who was who, and hoping that I would be able to place the blog with the face when it came to meeting people face-to-face.
From my perspective as a reader, I shouldn’t have to search for a blogger’s picture. It should be right there on the “About” page front-and-center. Of course, not everyone is comfortable posting a picture, and I completely understand this. But if you are, please (pretty please) put a picture on your about page.
For those with multi-author blogs, I suggest implementing Gravatars to enable your authors to showcase themselves. It’s difficult to showcase authors on the about page of a multi-author blog, but on individual posts and on author archives, Gravatars are an excellent way to identify authors based on a nifty pictorial icon.

Did I catch a couple of photos of you on Matt’s blog?

Yup, looks like he snagged me a few times. BTW, that second one has Jeffro (on the far right).

I thought I recognised you and Ptah Dunbar, but having never seen a picture of Jeffro I had no idea. Proof that Gravatars work right there.
