Avoid Ignoring Commentors Without Notifying Them First

You probably know how it feels to see a comment where someone disagrees with you over something you passionately believe in. It could be a comment left by someone who probably got offended over something you said, or you got offended by their comment. Just as in real life, sometimes there are people you do not want to talk with anymore or for a while for various reasons.

While it is perfectly normal to not interact with a commentor because you feel that any interaction may lead to hostility or more disrespect, I think it is better to let a person know, either in public or in private, that you do not wish to respond to their comments anymore because of specific reasons.

Let commentors know that you do not want to interact with them if you want to ignore certain commentors

Letting a person know that you will not talk to them anymore because of something they are doing or saying via their comments allows you to show appreciation. It shows that even when you want to ignore someone, you let them know about your actions that are a response to their comments. You do not make people wonder uncomfortably about the reasons why you ignore them, or even if you are ignoring them at all.

A person may be arguing with you over religion, war, discrimination or anything. You can simply tell a person that you will not respond to their remarks over certain issues because those comments make things personal. I think that is better than simply ignoring someone who has come to expect responses from you. Online, would you not like to be told by someone that because of some reason they will not talk to you anymore, instead of you wondering why they do not talk to you anymore? I would, as that would allow me to see if I would like to fix and improve the bonds between myself and the commentor or the blogger.
