My Dear New Blogging Year
Well, we’ve had our share of fun and relaxation these holidays, we’ve recharged our batteries and we are ready to start the new year of blogging (amongst other projects and jobs). I’ve read so many resolutions and goals for year 2008, that I expect it to bring us lots of pleasant surprises, information and fun. At least the reader I am had this thought when reading all those nice promisses made by many of you.
Some resolutions were contradictory: for example, I’ve met goals like “post more”, as well as “post less, but focus on quality”. This doesn’t mean that those who aimed to post more would do it in the detriment of quality.
One of the most frequent goals encountered is to interact more with other bloggers. Here I would dare to expect more comments on smaller blogs, I’d like to see that “interaction” doesn’t necessarily mean “to be the first who comments on big guys’ posts”, but “to find and socialize with peers”.
Another common goal of many bloggers is to guest blog. Again, I’d like to see my inbox crowded with guest blogging requests, as I have a strange feeling that for a lot of people this “guest blogging” contains a hidden part, which is “on big blogs”.
A goal which is also mine, and I encountered it at other people too, is to have fun. I hope to see people stopping by my blog and commenting for the fun of it, not for the fact that my blog is in their target market and they want to be linked from it. I don’t have anything against marketing, but I don’t want to feel like being use, either. You can sell yourself in a nice and professional way, and this could be more efficient than other approaches.
But what about the readers’ goals? What is your goal as a blog reader, in general? What is your goal as a reader of Reader Appreciation Project? We want to know, because we want to help you achieve your goals. And we’ll do our best for that in 2008 and in the years after.
