Invite Guest Bloggers to Disagree With You
Guest blogging is the concept of inviting commentors, other bloggers or someone else to blog on your site temporarily. Carolyn from Thoughts and Philosophies did this recently, and that gave me a small idea. If you want to appreciate readers who disagree with you a lot, invite them to guest blog on your site on any topic they wish. Invite guest bloggers to talk about things you may disagree with, so that you can show your appreciation to people who disagree with you over certain things.
If you want to be on the safe side, you can setup a rule to first review the blog post by the guest bloggers in order to see if the post can be published. If you do publish the post, you will be appreciating that guest blogger and showing through that appreciation that you are willing to help others voice their opinions. I cannot think of a better way to show respect for someone who may have views that you yourself do not agree with.
Having someone blog something to disagree with you can be a good thing
Usually, we like to invite guest bloggers who try to continue on a trend we set in our blogs. After all, we want our blogs to continue in a certain direction, right? I would also like my blog to continue in a certain direction. While it is a good idea to invite people to blog about topics we want and in a manner we like, I think it can also be a good idea to invite someone who disagrees with you about something, and to give them your entire blog platform so they can talk about something.
If you allow someone to disagree with you through comments and you also like the idea of guest bloggers, it may be a good idea to allow the disagreeing commentor become a guest blogger. Of course, the guest blogger can be told to keep things civil and respectful, since it is your blog and you can setup a few rules to feel comfortable yourself.
Allowing people to voice their opinions helps promote cooperation, even if you disagree with them over something
Allowing people to guest blog about topics you have strong opinions about can help your guest blogger, who is also your reader, to feel appreciated and to voice his/her opinion. It also shows that you are willing to co-exist with people who may disagree with you. Your readers can disagree with the guest blogger, though when you introduce the guest blogger, you can tell your readers to be respectful. All of this in turn allows that guest blogger to appreciate you more.
As for me, I think I feel like inviting several people to guest blog on my other site. If you think you disagree with me over something and have a better idea to promote reader appreciation, or if you have anything in mind you may want to write about that relates to reader appreciation, please contact us. We will do our best to see what can be done. Thank you for reading. ![]()

This is where blogs differ from newspapers in my opinion. With newspapers, people can write in “letters to the editor” and have them published. However, the editor will not publish these “letters” in the same manner that regular articles would appear.
With guest bloggers allowed to contribute articles debating points, the reader can actually engage the blogger (and the blogger’s audience) on exactly the same platform that the original article was written. This is powerful and gives the reader a much stronger voice than just a regular comment.
I have the same policy on my personal blog and am very serious about it.

Thanks for the comment Ronald :). I think you bring up a very good point. Newspapers “letters” sections allow community interaction, but guest blogging allows everyone to be a writer and an editor, thus resulting in an almost balanced interaction with the community.
Thanks for the link Ronald. I was not aware of that page; I will try to participate sometime.
