Put Your Readers in the Spotlight

Reader spotlight A good way to appreciate your blog readers is to blog about them. If you revolve some certain aspect of your blog around your readers, like a blog post, you will not only be appreciating your readers, but you will also be showing that the level of appreciation you have for your readers is so high that you are willing to bring the attention of all of your site visitors to your blog readers instead of only yourself.

Imagine meeting someone who, after the first meeting, periodically introduces you to new people in a nice manner. You would probably respect that person. Same is the case with your readers. Introduce them or their good qualities to others to show that you respect their presence and that you are happy to know them. Focus not only on the prominent commentors but on everyone.

3 ways to put the spotlight on your readers

There are many ways to focus your blog on your readers. Following are three random ways to put your readers in the spotlight:

  1. Help readers by talking about their blogs.

Talk about blogs run by your readers. Review their blogs, or even critique their blogs. The mere fact that you put some attention on sites run by your readers shows that you are willing to divert the attention of your readers from your site to your readers. You do not have to advertise their blogs; you can talk about the things you found interesting, or you can even talk about the things you disagree with. Bringing up someone through a respectful post shows that you are not ignoring them, even if your post talks about ignoring someone or something.

  2. Promote writings by your readers by inviting readers to be guest bloggers on your site.

One interesting way to appreciate and put the spotlight on your readers is to allow them to guest blog on your own blog. Guest blogging allows someone to write posts at other blogs. When readers read something on your site that is written by someone other than you, they will realize that you are willing to put a lot of trust in your readers. Your blog represents you, so if you let anyone else write anything on your site, you are allowing that person to represent you in some way through their writing. Guest blogging thus allows you to show your willingness to trust your readers, and thus your willingness appreciate your readers and put them in the spotlight.

You can also guest blog for RA Project, by the way. :)

  3. Highlight commentors by highlighting their comments in your posts.

One way to put the focus on your readers is to highlight their comments. If you find that a comment by a reader is useful, you can dedicate an entire post to that comment, or the views expressed in that comment. If you blog about a comment by a reader, you are basically telling others that the reader in question said something interesting, and that you would like others to notice the comment by that particular reader also.

Those are 3 of the many ways to put the spotlight on your readers and thus appreciate them. Many of us want attention through our blogs, but we rarely think about that fact that others want attention too. Your readers give you attention by visiting and commenting on your site. Give them some extra, honest attention by putting the spotlight on them. Your readers will thank you for it and appreciate you more in return, resulting in an appreciation cycle going around.
