Are You a Readers Pleaser?
Looking on Sphinn this morning, I came across an article called The People Pleaser 2.0. Briefly, the article explains that people pleasers are those ones who seek and find pleasure in pleasing other people. The author, Shana Albert, shifts the picture from the real world into the virtual space, comping up with the concept of People Pleaser 2.0. As Shana explains, amongst the symptoms which could diagnose a People Pleaser 2.0, there are:
- People Pleasers tend to be frightened every time they publish a post. They are afraid of other people’s thoughts on their posts because a People Pleaser bases their feelings on how others feel.
- Comments on their blog is enough to make or break them. They feel elated and happy when their posts receive good comments, but these people are coming undone on the inside with each of the negative comments.
While I really enjoy when I see people are pleased with what I write, I cannot stop myself from thinking that there has to be a border somewhere, between enjoying and craving for your readers’ happiness.
What about you? Is a negative comment enough to ruin your day? Are you doing the best you can to please your readers? If you do, how are you feeling on the inside?

I do my best to make the readers happy, but I realize it is an unrealistic goal to make all of them happy.
As far as people leaving negative comments… I’ve had a few of those
I think a blogger develops a thicker skin the longer they do it, but some comments can still hurt no matter what the experience level.

I once had a borderline-negative comment and I immediately felt bad and went to edit my post. But then I stopped and remembered that not everybody is going to agree with my posts and in the end, it’s MY blog and as long as I’m not offending anyone, then my posts should stay the way they are.
Sometimes we’ve got to step back and remember why we are blogging - for some of us it might be 100% reader pleasing, but for most of us, that’s not the case and we have to stay true to ourselves.

It’s true Ronald, and the bigger your blog gets, the bigger is also the probability to get negative comments.
Katie, I also was about to edit a post once, following a comment. Then I realized I actually want the other readers to see the original post as it was, and to give me their opinions on that. So I didn’t edit it.

Sometimes, I feel not good when somebody leaves a negative comment or something that is against me. But, it serves as a motivation for me to do better to make more quality posts.

Shana’s post are always good. About People Pleasers, I’m not sure if I am but I can take negatives comments depending on how they state it with facts.
Simonne says...
Hey, Land Projects UK, you’re right, stress can be a good motivator sometimes.

Natalie, yes, I also like Shana’s articles, because she manages to make me think and see new facets of issues she raises. Like this one.
