How Is Your Blog Handshake?

Shawn Blanc asked on his blog how one’s handshake was.

Shawn said this:

You’d be surprised what a solid handshake, some eye contact and a smile will do. Let’s not forget that other people are just that - people. Whatever situation you encounter people in, try being a little more friendly to them, and carry yourself a little more dignified.

So I ask this question: how is your blog handshake? What are you doing to make your readers feel welcome? Do you give them “eye contact” and a smile?

Please respond in the comments.

I think a level of professionalism within the writing makes an extreme difference. Taking it up from the “this is my journal” to a true public platform.

Very good point Shawn. There comes a time when a blogger simply needs to stop drinking milk and eat solid food.

Good point Shawn - professionalism. A true public platform can also be a true friendlier/friendly platform.

One important point though: One should also make sure to do the “handshake” in a similar fashion with all commentors, and not just prefer one over the other based on criteria not related directly to the concept of blogs.

As for me, I try my best to not handshake with readers at all. Instead, I try to hug and lead them by the hand into the living room so they can sit down, talk with me, eat stuff, etc, so that we can both have a great time in life!

Ok, maybe meeting someone for the first time and immediately pulling them into the living room can be creepy, so I try to have a really friendly and sincere handshake with a sincere smile that says “I am happy to meet you! :D Now my life has another interesting person to focus on.”
