If You Could Start Over…

Simonne is out this week, so I’d thought I’d post a quick question to the readers.

Several months ago a friend of mine reflected on her experience joining the blogosphere. She wrote an insightful post on what she wished she knew before starting her blog. It’s easy to reflect on the past and say, “I wish I knew this.” But reflection shows that you have experience and how you would probably do things differently if given a second chance.

I pose this question to the readers: What if you could start over with your blog?

What would you do differently? What would you do the same? Would you do anything differently when it comes to appreciating your readers? Please respond in the comments or perhaps with your own post.

Thank you.

I suppose in some ways I am thinking of starting again at the moment. I have found that I feel restrained in the kind of topics I can talk about because I started with a topic in mind, specifically web development, although I also looked at web marketing for a while.

I guess this is the main thing I think it is useful to know: it is hard to find new subjects, and when you do find one it can be hard finding enough angles on it to eek out a whole post.

I never expected many readers, so I am not disapointed, but I suspect a lot of people are when they find they are not as interesting as they thought they would be.

Quite often I think about starting over. I jumped into the blogosphere not really knowing anything. I have learned so much. My biggest problem is writers block, I have so many ideas and cannot focus to get any post written. It’s most likely do to not picking a niche.

    Andrew,
It seems the more I blog, the more I realize that it’s not about traffic. It’s about relationships.

    Dave,
Writer’s block is a big one and also burn out. There are some days that I don’t even want to look at a computer.

Thanks for the mention, Ronald. The incredible thing is that I wrote that post 5 months ago, and I still feel pretty much the same, and still learning a lot about blogging.
