The Lost Comment

I saw it. The infamous three words.
“Leave a comment.”
I gasped. I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I liked the post, but wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to leave a comment. What could I possibly write? Have a nice day? Nice post dude?
I pondered for a second. Aha! I thought of a good comment.
I wondered if I should type in my real name. What the heck. I’ll type in my real name.
The next box asked for an e-mail address. Oh brother. I don’t want to be spammed. The words next to the e-mail box said that I wouldn’t be spammed. Should I take his word for it? I hesitantly typed in my e-mail address.
The next box was for a website address. I don’t have a website. Okay. Now onto the comment.
I stared at the white portal for a few minutes trying to gather my thoughts. I typed in a few sentences and was pretty close to hitting the submit button. I realized I had a typo. I went back and corrected it and realized that my response might not come across as intended. I re-typed a few more sentences.
I began scratching my head. What will the guy think of me leaving a comment? I scroll up and see if there’s an about page. I click on the about page and see a picture of the dude smiling. He looks kind arrogant. I hope he appreciates my comment.
I scroll back down and look at my words. I shake my head. They just don’t look good. I close the window and go to the next site.
This short story was written for I Help You Blog’s 101 Great Posting Ideas. The topic was to write a post like I was telling a story.

I was trying to imagine myself just like a regular reader without a blog, but I do admit to doing the same thing. I have stared at the comment box wanting to say something, but just never did get around to saying it.
