Another Reader Appreciation Plugin: Wordpress Keyword Luv

What better sign that bloggers do care about their readers can be more eloquent than the increasing number of plugins which reward readers for being part of blog communities?

Some reader appreciation plugins offering direct benefits: Top Commentors or Last comments, or WP Ajax Edit Comments fall into this directly rewarding category.

Some other plugins offer indirect benefits, which are rather meant to help readers as bloggers, by offering them a small SEO help. This category includes the Do Follow and Comment Luv plugins, which are some of the “most hunted” and “most searched for” and which (especially the Do Follow) sometimes make people sign their comments with “purple lamp post” or “white beans soup with noodles”, or other thoroughly researched keywords.

Thanks to Stephen Cronin, the conversation between lamp posts, noodle soups and camping flashlights is coming to an end: The Keyword Luv plugin allows commenters to input both their name and their desired keywords, the backlink to their blog being anchored on the keywords, and not on the name, as it was before.

If you want to read a more detailed review of the Keyword Luv Wordpress plugin, you can visit InspiritBlog, or you can download KeywordLuv Plugin and offer your readers a nice treat.

Due to the fact that this plugin is valuable only if it is used on Do Follow blogs, you will need to install a Do Follow plugin in order to be sure it works smoothly.

If you have a Do Follow blog, I’m sure you won’t miss all the “items” which used to leave comments on your blog. You can now offer them a name.

This plugin is great for a blog with less comments, but for a blog with hundreds of comments a day, it is not a good idea.

I barely get 100 comments a month on my blogs, so I haven’t thought about his. But why do you say it’s not a good idea, caTcode? What can possibly happen?

Its true, going do follow and installing luv comment would certainly help increase traffic in your blog. I did it for my blog, and traffic increased 3folds! Amazing isn it. I’m sure you’ll be a great success!

  • Cyprus Holiday Villa says...

Keyword Luv is to Blogs as icing is to cake! Most people don’t contribute to blogs simply because they must register, wait for a confirmation e-mail to activate, then log-in, etc. and at the end of the day get nothing back for the effort. Rich anchor text in a backlink will motivate more commentary and help the blogger build subscribers and growing content from all the commentary. Everybody wins. Sad that Google support the no-follow movement IMHO.

how about too much comments with dofollow links, does it affects your PR on Google?

  • Anna says...

    http://residual-income-streams.info

Great post, sounds like a good plugin to try out.

@ bleuken - I understand that too many dofollow outgoing links vrs content can make your site look like a “thin affiliate site” and can hurt rankings.

On the other side of the coin, blog comments give fresh original content to your blog which is good for your SEO.

So you have to think with both of those factors.

This is an awesome idea. Keyword luv is cool sounding but you have to use it on a wordpress blog right? I got frustrated trying to figure out wordpress but I keep reading about all these cool plugins. I don’t even know why they call it a plugin but I’ve only been blogging for a month or so. Cool tip, thanks!

Keywordluv is a great plugin, to attract traffic to a blog. Yet, something has to be offered to keep the people interested in more than just posting their links there. I think in general it is a very nice tool for drawing more people to a relatively little known blog. For more popular blogs it might result in a lot of spam.

  • Carlos says...

    http://www.lacoctelera.com/comunactivo

Personally I think it is a good way to start but if you decide to use it, in a near future you should take into account going out of KeywordLuv. Otherway you are going to hate spam even on your dreams :)

I love keywordluv. It does take some time however to write some quality comments. I don’t like to waste time and blog space with cheesy comments. This is the responsibility of the commentator to read the entire post and then make a comment that is intelligent and contributing.

    http://www.holytraffic.com

Thanks for the useful post, and debate in the comments. There are pros and cons to KeywordLuv and CommentLuv. For me, CommentLuv has a slight advantage as it provides a deep-link to a blog post, as well as a general link to the homepage. Assuming you have keywords in your post-titles, you get the best of both.

  • Alexis says...

  • gamblingcoverage.com says...

    http://www.gamblingcoverage.com

Interesting!KeywordLuv helps you reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their site. This gives them improved anchor text, which can help their site rank higher in the search engine results. You can now leave a comment with your name as well as a keyword of your choice here and get a PR5 link back to your site! How cool is that? People pay big bucks for that and all you have to do is comment here.

Wow, this is great. This can be used well to get deep backlinks for your blog while giving you more control than commentluv. Commentluv is neat but sometimes the post title is not the keyword you’re shooting for. Or maybe you want to vary the keyword you’re aiming for with your posts. Keywordluv fixes that!

You got the right notion when you call it “Reader Appreciation”. That is exactly what comment and keyword luv are. If someone is going to read and enjoy your blog so much that they feel compelled to comment, then why not rewards them a little.

I also think that KeywordLuv is a great idea as I’ve always felt it too rude to leave a keyword in lieu of a name, with the result of this being a not-so-effective backlink. Many thanks for the list.

  • Annie says...

    http://www.indiaforex.com

I’ve seen this plugin on a lot of other blogs and have wanted to put it on my sites for a while, but like you said, even if something sounds great, actually getting the motivation to hit the download button and the activate button in the plugin control panel for Wordpress, it takes a little bit. I think the plugin sounds great, as it encourages people to post more comments and initiate conversation because they are outrightly promoting their own blogs, websites by posting a comment on mine and I love that link love.

  • Janice says...

    http://www.hererotictoys.com/

Awesome! This is a great reward to commentators (not spammers) by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their website, giving them improved anchor text as well as the decency of leaving their names properly. The sweetest icing on the cake!
